Personally I like Lcd tvs better. With Lcd you dont get any burn-in like plasma's do. Also with Lcd the picture is brighter and clearer! Plus Lcd tvs are lighter and use less power. I just bought a Samsung LNT3242. What an AWSOME picture!!

It depends on a few things. First, are you going to be using the TV for gaming? Second, do you live at high altitudes? Third, do you watch a lot of news or ESPN, shows that have a ticker at the bottom of the screen?

Plasma TV’s suffer from a problem called burn in. Stationary graphics (like tickers) can sometimes be burnt into your screen. This is also why gamers should never chose a plasma.

Plasma TV’s do not work very well at high altitudes. If you live at a high altitude you must go with an LCD. LCD TV’s also consume far less power than a plasma and generally run cooler.

Plasma TV’s produce better blacks (contrast ratio) than LCD TV’s but LCD TV’s are getting much higher contrast ratios.

Both plasma and LCD TV’s have life’s of upwards of 20,000 hours so there is no difference there.

A problem LCD TV’s have is pixel death. With use, individual pixels can burn out and leave tiny freckles of no picture on your screen.

Both kinds of TV are very close in price. 50 inches and above though, a plasma will be cheaper. LCD TV’s are just recently reaching those huge sizes.

I recently purchased a 46 inch Sharp Aquos LCD and it is amazing. Plus, I plan on using the TV for gaming and I do watch a lot of ESPN.

LCD TV’s are essentially big computer monitors and for me was the only choice. Decide what you are going to do with the set and weigh the pros and cons. Both will produce an amazing picture and both have advantages and disadvantages.
