LCD and Plasma are based upon similar technology,
In an LCD display, a layer of liquid is pressed between two glass panels, when a current is run through the liquid, an image made up of thousands of pixels is displayed.
the main difference between plasmas and lcds is that an lcd is backlit, meaning that the light in the picture comes from a bulb or a series of bulbs located behind the screen. In a plasma display, the liquid pixels provide not only the color, but the light as well, which is why plasma’s are said to display more vivid picutres and lcd displays tend to display a washed out picture.
a projection tv works much like the projector in a movie theater.
The bulb in the projector is beamed through the picture, which is cast onto a screen, or a bare wall.
There are both front projection and rear projection tv’s and the difference is really self explanatory.
A front projection model’s projector is a separate object, which ia positioned somewhere in front of the screen.
A rear projection tv’s picture comes from behind the screen, and as becasue of this, rear projection models are selfcontained(all in 1 piece) A rear projection tv is more practical for many homes because they do not require the same amount of space that a front projection model does.
