LCD:

LCD is the abbreviation of Liquid Crystal Display. It was created to replace the older version of televisions i.e the CRT technology. The LCDs could easily do so because of their slim and sleek compact structure which allows the user to hang them anywhere easily and their better display quality at a very pocket friendly price.

LED:

LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. It is the latest technology in the field of televisions or one can say that it is an advanced version of LCD. LEDs use Light Emitting Diode backlighting instead of Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamps used in LCD Televisions.

Difference -

LED Televisions are technically same as the LCD Televisions as they both use Liquid Crystal Display, main difference between the two being the difference between their backlights as discussed above.

LCD contains two polarized layers of glass which are stuck together with the liquid crystals being held in one of the layers. When electric current passes through these crystals, they either pass or block the light in order to produce images on screen. The light comes from CCFL present at the back of the screen.

LED primarily has two main forms of backlighting namely Edge Lighting and Local Dimming. Edge Lighting helps in very thin construction with LED present around the edge of the panel. In Local Dimming, banks of LED lights are present behind the panel which can be used to lower the amount of backlighting in dark areas and raise it in bright areas for better picture quality.

LED tvs are the best they last long and are super energy efficient! LCD are in 2nd place they get hot and don’t last as long as LED now plasma is old technology it basically uses plasma which makes a lot of heat and not so hd! LED=light emmiting Diode LCD= Liquid crystal display and plasma is plasma!
