What are some good cleaners for a plasma television?
I have fingerprints from kids on my new tv and was wondering how I can safetly clean it without damaging the television itself. I also need to know what cleaners work the best because I spent quite a bit on the tv and don't want it ruined.

Turn off the plasma display before cleaning it. Doing this is not necessary, but it's preferred, especially if you're going to use a cleaning solution spray.[1] Some sources suggest unplugging the TV.

Use a soft, lint-free cloth to remove fingerprints and smudges. Avoid wood-based products (paper towels, toilet paper, tissues) because they can scratch the screen. If stubborn dirty spots persist, go to the next step. However, be advised that some manufacturers, such as Pioneer, recommend no liquid at all on the front of their plasmas, lest it seep into the plasma display.

If you must use a liquid, spray the cleaning solution on the soft cloth, not on the screen. Use either just distilled water or non-ammonia or alcohol-based window cleaner. Ammonia and alcohol are substances which will eventually cloud any plastic with microscopic "crazing," with the effect of hazing and dimming the displayed image. After wiping the screen gently, follow up with a dry cloth

  1. Laissez-Faire Guy

I use one of those cloths you get with eyeglasses, wet it down and squeeze out as much excess water as you can, and then gently rub the screen until the finger prints are gone.

I know what you mean. My 4 year old is always getting his grimy hands on my plasma screen.

I do NOT CARE for the Dry cloth approach to cleaning a Plasma.
I have seen scratches on the plastic cabinet and also the screen too…

SO…the ONLY THING I USE ON ANY TV SET OUT THERE IS…..

MONSTER SCREEN CLEANING KIT….available at any Radio Shack store…

The cleaner is a cleaner AND polisher…the microfiber cloth captures dust and has never left a scratch on the newer TV sets, like Clean cotton dishtowels have ! (Those are about the softest you can find, but now I’m seeing the material in dishtowels seem to have an abrasive effect…I’ll bet they have some plastic threading in them thats harder than the plastic on the TV set )

It’s $ 25.00 and worth every penny to protect your plasma during cleaning. I have never seen the antiglare coating come off the TV with that kit….

I have seen other kits cause the coating to come off…and WINDEX really strips the coating off of it fast !!

So go for the best stuff I have ever found that protects ALL TV SETS AND FINISHES !

And don’t forget…it’s a polisher too. So rub gently to achieve maximum effect of the polish.

And another thing…the spray should be sprayed on the cloth, BUT Monster developed the sprayer and cleaner to be DRIP-PROOF.

Ooops! I forgot to spray it on the cloth! I sprayed it on the screen ! Thank God it’s drip-proof ! Isn’t it nice that they thought about what COULD possibly happen?
