Should the plasma tv be centered on the wall as the mantel and corbels are?
We are installing a plasma tv over the fireplace on a brick wall. The fireplace is not centered. There is a mantel shelf that is maybe ten feet long and is centered with corbels. It is about seven or eight inches off center of the fireplace. Should the plasma tv be centered on the wall as the mantel and corbels are? Or should it be centered on top of the fireplace?

one thing you should know, did you check in the manual were it has your plasma tv and a fireplace with a line going through it?

because heat will lessen the lifespan of it, and case it to overheat and be damaged. i'd find another place for it away from any heaters/central heating radiators.

if you really want to place it there, i'd put it in the center of the actual chimnea breast, or the center of the mantle, because it will look off center and odd if it's not.

You can hang your TV one of two ways:

    Centered over the fireplace.

Centered on either wall to the left or right of the fireplace.

Insane m has avery valid point. Smoke and rising heat from the fireplace are not going to be real healthy for your television.

My negative point is astetic. The fireplace in almost any room is the focal point. A tv above the fireplace puts two points of obvious interest in competition with one another. he two together will be very distracting

The TV should be centered over the mantel. Period. I have dozens of clients who have mounted their TV’s over their mantels with great success. Many of them store the electronics in a closet.
