“if i buy this am i going to pay for it later?” – yes, yes you are, well maybe.

Sanyo is a 2nd tier or no-name brand manufacturer. They are cheap in price and parts. I wouldn’t necessarily call it good “value.” I think a good value is finding a really good sale on a better brand.

And at the sizes you’re talking about, wow, definitely not a good brand. You want a top tier brand in such a large TV. I would only go with the cheaper or no-name brands in like 26″ or smaller. The bigger the TV the less trust I have in the no-name brands.

Panasonic, Samsung, Sony are your best friends. Yes they might also be expensive, but they are so worth it. LG and Sharp are also good considerations.

At 46″ or 50″, how about looking at a Panasonic TC-P46S1 or TC-P50S1? Those are top flight TVs for the size. The 46″ is $ 1,065 on Amazon and the 50″ is actually listed at only $ 999. That’s an amazing price for an elite TV. If you want to buy from a retail store just look for one that will price match (I believe Best Buy does). And I believe they have the same price on the TC-P50S1 right now on sale.

As for LCD vs Plasma, here’s a detailed breakdown on that, http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aut5YZ5yxyn2G4pxncbSaoXty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090922175846AAMaie6&show=7#profile-info-hPKX1G6aaa – the gist is that Plasma is better overall and for less.

Go for a Panasonic Plasma tv. September issue of Home Theater magazine featured and compared the Panasonic Plasma tv to a Sony, LG, Toshiba and Vizio LCD tv. The Panasonic Plasma was the overall winner, best picture quality out of the box with out any further adjustment. Also the Plasma tv is less expensive than the LCD or LED tvs. You also do not have to worry about blur motion when watching fast action sports or movies. Go online to Home Theater magazine and read the complete review. I purchased a Plasma tv in 2002 and is still running strong, while my LCD tv purchased in 2006 is already burned out. Hers’s the top brand when it comes to tv: Panasonic, Samsung, Sony and Toshiba. Hope this will help you out.
