Basically, the old CRT technology is outdated and will likely disappear entirely.

The smart choice when shopping for a new television is to look into all that LCD and plasma tv has to offer. Now personally, I prefer plasma over LCD, and I'll tell you why in another article.

3) Flat Plasma TV

One of the most desirable qualities of a flat plasma tv is the physical size in comparison to CRT television. I'm talking about flat referring to physical dimensions; not just about the flat screen. Because the plasma TV is flat, it looks stylish and hi-tech as well as saving space.

What's the difference between plasma and LCD TVs?
My husband and I were looking at purchasing a new tv and saw plasma and LCD TVs. I would like to know what are the differences and pros and cons of each. Also, on the labels were information 720p and 1080p. What does that mean and is it important to consider? if so, why?

Plasma tvs are normally larger sizes, heavier, and a slightly more vibrant picture. They work with a plasma in the screen. This is why its so heavy, and they have a shorter life before the screen dies. LCDs are a little lighter, and have a longer screen life. The picture is often not as good, although the standard has improved. The 720p and 1080p are indications of HD readiness. Technically, the 1080p TV will produce a more detailed picture than the 720p, but it is not a huge difference. Its only important to consider this if you are using HD equipment and have a very, VERY sharp eye. Hope this helped!

Which Size HDTV is Right for My Room?

With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. How do I put my pc screen onto my plasma tv?
I bought a new 42" plasma tv, i also got an HDMI cable. I read the manual, but it doesn't say how to put my pc screen onto my tv screen.

plasma tv?
I am planning on buying a Vizio plasma tv and i don't have HD cable. Will my picture look like crap or will it look the same as a regular TV? also will playing my x box 360 mess up the plasma TV or not?
is 60,000 hr screen life good? 30,000 to 1 ratio good? is 1024x720 good? i don't know anything about these #'s so please explain.

I wouldn't say the picture will look like crap, it just won't look as good as HD. It'll look similar to standard tv. I don't believe the Xbox will do damage to a Plasma tv as I play my PS3 on mine. If the Xbox doesn't have an HD cable with it make sure and get one, you'll thank yourself for that.

Which brand of plasma tvs has the least burn in problems?
Although it's been said that recently released plasmas have no burn in problems, I've been told that some of them still do.
Anyone with any professional or personal experience with this?

Panasonic's newer plasmas have incorporated the most advanced technology in preventing burn-in. Now Panasonic sells their plasma TVs under the brand names Panasonic, Sanyo, and Pioneer. Yes, Panasonic took over not only Sanyo, but also Pioneer's entire TV production.

LG and Samsung aren't bad either. The ones that are at highest risk of burn-in are the other brands: Insignia, any leftover stock of Vizio, Emerson, etc.
